Alcidamas said this sometime during the 4th Century BC in Athens.
For all of you Aristotle fans out there, he did not agree with Alcidamas.
Some 2,200 years later, the Emancipation Proclamation was delivered to the state of Texas by Major General Gordon Granger on June 19, 1865… two-and-a-half years after it was signed by President Abraham Lincoln.
The official delivery of this was a big deal...even though Texas slaveholders didn’t immediately release all of their slaves that day...
But it was a day that marked significant change and that’s why we celebrate Juneteenth today.
