Views from a cemetery.

One time, when I was living in Minneapolis, I had this desire to get outside, but not be alone.

Since Minneapolis is a city, even when you’re walking around a lake or going for a hike, there is a high likelihood that you’re going to see people.

So I grabbed a sub from Cousins and set out to find a place without many people to eat and be with my thoughts.

As I was driving, I came across this huge cemetery sprawled across a hill that I decided to check out.

Almost instantly, I realized that this cemetery probably had the best view of downtown Minneapolis from anywhere in the greater Twin Cities area.

Plus, there were no people (that were alive).

It was the perfect place to escape to for an hour.

A cemetery was the last place I ever expected to find peace and comfort. I had always been kind of scared of them. But instead of being scared that time, I decided to be curious. I was quite alone...sitting there...eating my sub...but I also wasn’t. I was surrounded by hundreds of stories of lives that had been lived. What were their stories? Were they happy with the lives they lived? What advice would they give to us who are still writing ours?

Anyway, today we shot from Hot Sulphur Springs Cemetery. It has amazing views, and it’s quiet. I wonder about all the stories interred there too.
