I was driving through Winter Park the other day and noticed that Randi’s had a banner hanging on its building.
It said, #WPSTRONG.
Winter Park, Tabernash, Fraser, Granby, Grand Lake…they are all tourist destinations. We don’t have any industry here. People come to Grand County to recreate.
Most of the people who work here are tied to tourism in some way.
We work for shops, resorts, restaurants, hotels, construction companies, or service companies that support businesses that cater to tourists and second homeowners.
When there are no tourists, things are slow.
This typically happens in May and October every year…just not for the unforeseeable future.
Anyway, I wanted to take a picture of Randi’s and its sign because, while I COMPLETELY understand why everything is shutdown, I feel for small businesses.
